In late 2025 mass youth protests filled the streets of Kathmandu, Nepal; Antananarivo, Madagascar; Rabat, Morocco; Lima, Peru; and Istanbul, Turkey, toppling national governments in several cases. Despite vast differences in culture and ideology, the demonstrators were united by age, being primarily members of Generation Z (born between 1997 and 2012), and by a shared frustration with economic inequality and political corruption. The wave of youth unrest continued into 2026, with protests erupting in India and across Europe.
